Dr Sumita Chawla

Course Co-Director & Faculty Lead For Gastrointestinal Imaging

Dr Sumita Chawla is a distinguished Consultant Radiologist with a robust track record in clinical leadership and medical education. She has served as Divisional Medical Director for Diagnostic and Clinical Support Services, Clinical Director for Radiology, and Training Programme Director for Health Education England North West (HEENW), playing a pivotal role in advancing radiology services and training across the region. Currently, Dr Chawla is the Equality and Diversity Standards Officer for the British Society of Gastro and Abdominal Radiologists (BSGAR), where she champions inclusive practices and equitable representation within the specialty. Her passion to education and global health is reflected in her teaching contributions in Ghana and India, and she was honoured with the prestigious RCR Prafulla Kumar Ganguli Professorship in 2016. Dr Chawla is a regular speaker at national and international conferences, with a portfolio of peer-reviewed publications. In 2018, she founded the Mersey FRCR 2A Course, a highly regarded initiative supporting radiology trainees in their exam preparation and professional development.

Dr John Curtis

Faculty Lead For Chest Imaging

Dr John Curtis is a recently retired Consultant Radiologist at University Hospital Aintree (1997–2022) with interests in Chest, Emergency Radiology, and Medical Education. He founded the Aintree FRCR 2B Course in 2002, served as Head of School for the Mersey Radiology Deanery (2008–17), and is a Past President of the British Society of Emergency Radiology. A two-time JRF Trainer of the Year and recipient of the RCR Gold Medal (2017), he is passionate about innovative teaching, including video and online formats.

Dr David Garbera

Faculty Lead For Paediatric Imaging

Dr David Garbera is a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist at Alder Hey Children's Hospital. He trained in the North West, developing a keen interest in paediatric radiology following a positive stint at the hospital during his ST3 year. Following a fellowship at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, Dr Garbera returned to Liverpool to take up a Consultant post in September 2021. He has a special interest in neonatal and uro-nephrological imaging. Since 2024, Dr Garbera has also been an examiner for the Royal College of Radiologists, sitting on the FRCR Part 1 Anatomy committee.

Dr Chinedum Anosike

Faculty Lead For Genitourinary Radiology

Dr Chinedum Anosike is a Consultant Radiologist at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Trust with subspecialty interests in GI and GU Radiology. He is actively involved in training, lecturing on courses such as the FRCR Part 1 Anatomy and Aintree FRCR 2B courses. He is also co-author of Get Through Final FRCR 2A, a widely used and highly rated revision resource.

Dr Chris McLeavy

Faculty Lead For Trauma Imaging

Dr McLeavy is a Consultant Radiologist with specialist interests in Emergency Imaging, Genitourinary and Stroke Imaging. He works at a Major Trauma Centre in Liverpool where he is the Clinical Governance lead and former Clinical Lead for Imaging. He is the current President at the British Society of Emergency Radiology (BSER) in addition to being Specialist Interest Group (SIG) Lead for Trauma Imaging at the RCR, iRefer and former FRCR 2A exam Trauma SIG Lead. He is a regular speaker at various national and international conferences and has published papers on a variety of topics related to acute imaging.

Dr Huyla Wieshmann

Faculty Lead For Nuclear Medicine

Dr Hulya Wieshmann is a Consultant Radiologist at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in oncology imaging with a focus on PET-CT and Nuclear Medicine. A nationally and internationally respected expert, she is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Liverpool University and Visiting Professor at Xiang Ya Hospital, China. She has numerous publications, presents regularly at international conferences and co-authored Long Cases for the Final FRCR 2B.

Dr Gajraj Sharma

Faculty Lead For Head & Neck Imaging

Dr Gajraj Sharma is a Consultant Radiologist at Aintree University Hospital (NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group) with a subspecialty interest in Head & Neck and Uro-Radiology. He completed his radiology training from Mersey school of radiology, followed by Head & Neck imaging fellowship. He is immensely passionate about teaching and training for radiology trainees and has served as the Associate Training Programme Director - Clinical Radiology for NorthWest (HEENW), in addition to, delivering teaching geared towards FRCR exam.

Dr James Tanner

Faculty Lead For Breast Imaging

Dr James Tanner is a Consultant Radiologist and Clinical Lead for Breast Services at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where he also trained in Breast Imaging. He specialises in breast intervention, including vacuum-assisted procedures under ultrasound, mammographic, and MRI guidance. His other interests include trauma, liver, and transplant imaging. He also leads trial imaging at Addenbrooke’s, reporting oncological assessments for clinical studies.

Dr Richard Pullicino is a Consultant Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiologist working at the renowned Walton Centre in Liverpool.

Dr Sarah Keegan

Faculty Lead For Gynaecological Imaging

Dr Sarah Keegan is a Consultant Radiologist at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in gynaecological and urological radiology. Additionally, she has a special interest in education, including teaching and pastoral support.

Dr Madhu Paravasthu

Faculty Lead For Cardiac Imaging

Dr Madhu Paravasthu is a Consultant Cardiothoracic and General Radiologist at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He completed dual fellowships in Cardiac and Thoracic Imaging in Toronto and has served as Trust Specialty Training Lead for over four years. His interests include cardiac CT/MRI, thoracic imaging (lung cancer, ILD), CT-guided lung biopsies, and polytrauma. He is also actively involved in FRCR 2A teaching.

Dr Flavius Parvulescu

Faculty Lead For Interventional Radiology

Dr Flavius Parvulescu obtained his CCT in Interventional Radiology in 2019, following his 6-year radiology training in Merseyside. He then completed a 1-year fellowship in Interventional Radiology at the University of Toronto, Canada. He has been working as a Consultant Vascular and Interventional Radiologist at the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2020. He holds an MSc in Diagnostic Imaging (with Distinction) from the University of Oxford.

Dr Lenetta Boyce

Faculty Lead For Musculoskeletal Imaging

Dr Lenetta Boyce is a Consultant Radiologist at the Liverpool Universities Hospitals Group, specialising in MSK and trauma radiology. She completed her undergraduate medical training in Liverpool in 2004 followed by core surgical training in the West Midlands. Initially pursuing higher speciality surgical training in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery, Dr Boyce later transitioned to clinical radiology training in the North West where she discovered her true passion for the field. She began her radiology consultant career in 2020. Throughout her career, Dr. Boyce has had a passion for clinical education and continues to regularly teach at the University of Liverpool Medical School aswell as at various national and international conference and courses. She has contributed to the field of radiology and MSK with numerous publications and presentations. In addition to her primary speciality Dr. Boyce has a further interest in post-mortem radiology and provides services as a forensic radiologist for various coroner constituents around the country. She has participated on several working groups to create internationally recognised guidelines and continues to help promote the use of post mortem CT in death investigation.

Dr Vishal Agrawal

    This course is for anyone who is preparing for the FRCR 2A examination which includes both UK and international radiology trainees.

  • How does the course work?

    On enrollment, you'll then be invited to the 2-day live course held on the 11th and 12th of October 2025. As part of your enrollment, you'll also be given an exclusive invitation to the FRCR 2A revision group and additionally, after the live course is completed, the post-course recordings which you can access up to the date of your exam.

  • Will the live lectures be available for viewing afterwards?

    Yes! All of our live lectures will be recorded and then made available for you to view during your membership period.

  • Can I use my study budget for this course?

    There should be no reason why you can't! Of course, we do not finalise such decisions but this course is designed specifically to help you prepare for your FRCR 2A exam.
